  We had used Art Donner for 6-8 years to prepare our taxes. 2 of the last 3 years, his office has made errors, causing us to get letters from the IRS. This year, I enclosed a letter with our tax receipts and paperwork when giving it to him to prepare our taxes, saying that we do not want to get any letters from the IRS this year (unless we hear about it from the him beforehand)... no surprises. I dropped all of our materials/receipts off at his office on 3/6. Two business days later, UPS delivers everything back to me with a letter from Art saying that he's "taken on a company/client for their accounting and tax filings and won't be able to complete our tax returns this year." Really?? He didn't know this 3 days earlier when I drove 20 miles to drop everything off?? So, I had to scramble to find another accountant 4 weeks before taxes are due. Clearly, he knew about this "new business" days/weeks earlier and chose not to call/write his clients. --- So, in review... Art may be a competent CPA (personally) and he seems like a nice guy... BUT... he has zero communication skills here, apparently hires less-than-competent staff accountants (including a usually-rude receptionist), and has very questionable business practices when it comes to leaving clients high-and-dry without notice. Fortunately, we have found a new CPA... and suggest you look elsewhere for yours.

  I spoke to the receptionist and she was the rudest person in the world. I was inquiring as to the difference in service from H&R Block and their service. She repeatedly asks who this is when I gave her my name in the beginning of the call. She then cut me off and said we are not accepting new clients and disconnected the phone call. I do not recommend this accountant to any one who values customer service.
